How to manually uninstall Update Installer utility from IBM for Websphere software

The Update Installer is the tool used to install updates (Interim Fixes, Fix Packs and Refresh Packs) for IBM® WebSphere® software, including

    * WebSphere Application Server V6.0 or above
    * IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Version 6 or above
    * IBM Application Client for WebSphere Application Server Version 6 or above
    * Web server plug-ins for WebSphere Application Server Version 6 or above
    * IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Version 6.0.1 or above
    * IBM WebSphere Process Server Version 6.0 or above
    * IBM HTTP Server Version 6 or above
    * …

There are two ways how to uninstall Update Installer utility:

    * Automatically by running this command: /opt/IBM/WebSphere/UpdateInstaller/uninstall/uninstall, where /opt/IBM/WebSphere/UpdateInstaller is path, where the Update Installer resides
    * Manually only removing the /opt/IBM/WebSphere/UpdateInstaller directory is not enough. 
      You have to also remove the file /opt/.ibm/.nif/.nifregistry (please, backup the file first).

Note the dots in the file and directory names - that makes them hidden from a usual 'ls' - you'll need to do 'ls -a' to see them.
